Kim asked for approval of last meeting’s minutes--moved by Lisa Schermerhorn and
seconded by Lisa Bruzzone, approved unanimously.
Treasurer’s report--not available at the time of the meeting (see attached).
Secretary’s report--as of the meeting date, we have a membership of 29 households, 41
individuals.
Old Business: Insurance--Mary Fluke reported on some research into liability insurance and director’s andofficers liability insurance--Sportmen’s Insurance seems pretty pricey ($1700 for bothpolicies). Once we are licensed by AKC, we’ll be able to get insurance through AKC andwe can piggyback on PBGVCA once we can become a member club (have to belicensed first). For now we need something to cover us in case somebody breaks a leg.Mary Fluke pleaded with the attendees for somebody to take on the responsibility forresearching this and Wendy Murphy very kindly offered to take it on (many thanks,Wendy!) E-mail Wendy if you have any insights (wendy.wolfie@gmail.com).
Fun Day--Bobbe Jackson and Lynn Rowell very kindly allowed themselves to be talkedinto hosting the PBGV Fun Day again this year. We decided that Sunday, June 24 wouldbe the best day of those suggested by Bobbe and Lynn and we elected Bobbe to be in charge of our second Fun Match which we will have that day. (Thank you, Bobbe!)Remember to encourage your puppy buyers to come to the Fun Day! Part of the goal ofthe Fun Day is to promote the breed and educate PBGV owners and enthusiasts.
New Business--Pat Hodges has arranged for PBGVCA to do a supported entry at theshows in Louisburg, WV, April 24-27, 2008. She asked if Carolina PBGV Club could do a supported entry as well. There was a good bit of discussion centering on the concern thatthere wasn’t a big entry of PBGVs at that show. A point raised in favor of doing thesupported entry was that the whole goal is to increase the number of dogs entered. A point against was that no one at the meeting was sure they would be likely to enter theshow. We were also left with the issue that we wouldn’t know our license status in time to execute paperwork anyway, so in the end a motion was made for us to offer trophies for
one of the show days, Carolina PBGV Club to pay for rosettes and Pat Hodges to solicitmoney for trophies (WD, WB, BOB, BOW, BOO)--moved by Mary Fluke, seconded by Maggie Lutz, passed.
Greater Monroe Kennel Club, November 16-18, 2007--PBGVCA is doing a supported entry on Saturday (11/17), Lisa Schermerhorn judging sweepstakes. GMKC asked is Carolina PBGV Club wanted to do a supported entry for the Sunday show. This basicallyraised the same issues as the last discussion so we elected to do the same thing again andoffer trophies as individuals on behalf of Carolina PBGV Club (like we did last year). MaryFluke took responsibility for soliciting trophies for the Sunday show (WD, WB, BOB,BOW, BOO).
The question was raised about whether we could do a “B” match on the Saturday night.Bobbe Jackson was consulted by phone and was supposed to communicate with AKC tofigure out if we could do it. Mike Bruzzone agreed to judge and Lisa Bruzzone will stewardand also be in charge of getting prizes together (everybody will get a prize!) Nancy Eatonwill also be a steward. We will need to get ribbons from MB-F. We will also have a potluck concurrently with the match (Carolina PBGV Club to buy drinks and stuff).
Meeting adjourned at 1:11 pm.
